Mountain Plains I & II - 2003

Mountain Plains I and II, subdivisions located on the west side of Spearfish, became the first Firewise Community in South Dakota in 2003 and was one of the original pilot program sites. They have worked very hard over the years to maintain status to become one of a few to reach 10 years of recognition.

Silver City - 2012

Silver City is located just west of Rapid City and is the 7th recognized Firewise Community in the State. Silver City became a Firewise Community in fall 2012.

Silver Star Subdivision 1 & 2 - 2005

The Silver Star Subdivisions, located south west of Custer, became the third community in South Dakota in 2005.

Spearfish Canyon - 2011

After many years of work, Spearfish Canyon became a Firewise Community in 2011 earn the place of 4th community in the State.

Woodridge - 2012

Woodridge is located in Rapid City and is the second Firewise Community within the City and the 6th within the State. Woodridge became a recognized Firewise Community in fall 2012.
